season 4 guide (layout)
The Season Four Educators’ Guide is a 32-page full color manual that provides additional background information about each of the featured artists and themes. The guide is designed to be used in schools, museums, galleries, teacher training programs, community-based programs, and cultural and educational institutions. Not only a resource for arts-related venues, the guide facilitates connections with a variety of subject areas and learning contexts.

The Guide includes Before Viewing and After Viewing questions as well as suggestions for hands-on activities. These suggestions are interdisciplinary and support various disciplines including the Visual and Performing Arts, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Internet addresses where you can find additional images of artists' work and connections to the Online Lesson Library are included throughout the Guide. Designed for use at the secondary level, the content can be easily adapted for younger or older groups.

Art21 Educators’ Guides are designed to be used in conjunction with the Art in the Twenty-First Century series on PBS. Educators who intend to show the series in their classrooms can also record segments off the air when broadcast by local PBS stations. Check local PBS listings to learn when the series will air next in your area.
The Season Four Educators' Guide was written by Jessica Hamlin, Art21 Education Consultant; Amanda Donnan, Art21 Production Coordinator; Li Sumpter, New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY; April Kim Tonin, Nightingale-Bamford School, New York, NY; Sasha Kopelowitz, White Plains Public Schools, White Plains, NY; Kristin Smith, Bronx Lab School, Bronx, NY; Elly Karp Wong, Trinity School, New York, NY; and Dina Helal, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY, in consultation with Tana Hargest, Director of Education and Public Programs, and the Art21 National Education Advisory Council.
